Pricing
Less than one year of YNAB. Yours forever.
The honest model for a local-first app with a hosted sync backend: buy Pro once for life — a real one-time purchase, not a subscription in disguise — or subscribe for a few dollars a month if you'd rather not commit upfront. Either way, hosted sync is included, and full-fidelity CSV/JSON export ships with Pro, so your data is never locked in.

Frequently asked
- Budgets are tiny — a decade of transaction history is a few dozen megabytes of text, and the ongoing cost of hosting your sync is cents a month. That's why $99 buys a lifetime license outright — household included, sync included under fair use — and still comfortably covers years of service. Prefer not to pay upfront? A small monthly subscription unlocks the same thing; cancel anytime.
- v2, v3, and everything after keep working under your existing license — a lifetime purchase is exactly that: lifetime, and an active subscription stays current automatically. Nobody has to buy the same app twice.
- Bank auto-import means handing an aggregator your bank credentials. We don't do that, on purpose — your credentials never leave your bank, because ihab never asks for them. If you already enter transactions by hand, this isn't a gap. It's the point.
- Actual is a genuinely good open-source option. ihab's case is FX depth — native and budget currency per transaction, stored rates, drift tracking, revaluation, a currency-exposure report — plus a polished hosted sync that just works, no Docker or server to manage.

- The app goes read-only on that device — every budget, account, and transaction you've entered stays exactly as it was, and nothing is ever deleted. To keep budgeting, sync across devices, or export your data, subscribe or buy a lifetime license.
- Yes — ihab is local-first, so your data lives on your device first, full stop. If you'd rather not touch our servers at all, Pro can back up automatically to a folder you choose, including your iCloud Drive or Google Drive folder, so your backups live in your cloud, not ours. Hosted sync is only there if you want live sync across multiple devices.
- If you bought the lifetime license, there's nothing to lapse — pay once, and the app keeps working for good. On the monthly subscription, letting it lapse puts the app back into the same read-only state as an ended trial — nothing is deleted, and resubscribing or buying lifetime picks up right where you left off. ihab is local-first, so your data already lives on your device, not just in our database; full-fidelity CSV/JSON export ships with Pro, and Pro can also back up automatically to your own iCloud Drive or Google Drive folder — so walking away with everything you've entered, in a form you control, is always an option, not a hypothetical.
